District 300 registration this week

District 300 is holding districtwide registration is July 15-17. The hours, locations and paperwork information are detailed in the Feb. 26 news release, linked here: http://www.d300.org/web/parents/registration.html. Registration will almost completely monopolize the time and attention of all D300 staff all next week, so please plan accordingly. Check the Web site for Schedule of Fees for D300 Registration 2008.

Parents should go to the location that is their feeder high school for registration. (Gary D. Wright Elementary School in Hampshire will sub for Hampshire High School, which is under construction at both its past and future locations.)

Considering that NEW secondary attendance boundaries were approved by the D300 School Board this spring, some families' high school feeder pattern has changed, and some elementary & middle schools are split between 2, or 3, in the case of DMS, high schools. Parents should make a special point to check the "student assignment database" or the "attendance boundaries" at www.d300.org, or call the school to verify their feeder pattern and appropriate school to go to for registration.

There will be a D300 Foundation for Educational Excellence table at each registration site, where parents can conveniently opt to make a donation to the Foundation along with their registration fees. Each registration site is pleased to also offer information about other community groups and agencies. At the Dundee-Crown High School site, for example, there will be representatives from: The Dundee Highlands Wrestling Team, Girl Scouts, The Special Education Network, Dundee Library, Boys & Girls Club, Big Brothers/Big Sisters, Family Service Association of Greater Elgin (Consumer Credit Counseling/Family Therapy), Elgin Community College, The Health Department of Kane County, and Carpentersville Police and Fire Departments.

The Dundee-Crown site also is having a Scholastic Book Fair for the students/families, which is a "buy one, get one free" book fair.
