We use fireworks to celebrate freedom

This letter is in reference to Richard Szatkowski and his "beloved" 1989 Corvette (Story, July 9).

Let me start by saying that I truly am sorry for his loss.

For many, many years people have been lighting off fireworks to celebrate our nation's freedom.

We have all become so uptight, banning this and banning that.

The Fourth of July is what it is. Sometimes people get hurt and property gets damaged.

It is a risk we all take in celebration of our freedom!

Maybe some of us are forgetting that the bombs and guns are far more damaging to our military than the few injuries and property damage we back home are complaining about.

We use fireworks to celebrate and say thank you for our freedom.
