Hazmat team cleans Streamwood diesel spill
Streamwood fire officials said traffic was backed up on Route 59 and Irving Park Road after a car and a semi-truck nearly collided, causing the truck to swerve and hit a light pole.
Police officials said there were no injuries in the accident that took place just after 6 a.m.
Police said it's unclear how the truck and car nearly hit, but the driver of the truck swerved to avoid the car and hit a light pole. The light pole pierced the diesel tank the truck was hauling, spilling the fuel at the intersection.
Fire officials and a hazardous material crew was on the scene for about 90 minutes clearing the fuel off the highway.
