Construction is under way on a new parking lot next to Geneva High School's baseball fields. In addition, the Burgess Field parking lot will be expanded. Construction is expected to end Aug. 8. Blood drive in West Chicago

Joint ribbon-cutting
A dual ribbon-cutting ceremony will be held at 4 p.m., Thursday, to mark the openings of Komet Motorsports and Basa's Collision, both located in commercial suites at 1500 Foundry St., St. Charles. Disco in St. Charles
Seventies' chart-toppers KC and the Sunshine Band are scheduled to perform July 18 at the Arcada Theatre, 105 E. Main St., St. Charles. Tickets to the 8 p.m. show are $42 and up. Girls Night Out
Spring Bluff Nursery in Sugar Grove will have its annual Girls Night Out July 17. The free event starts with plant specials at 3 p.m., with complimentary food, drinks and music to follow at 6 p.m. The first 200 guests receive free perennials. Nursing exams at ECC
Elgin Community College's professional nursing program will hold an admission exam at 10 a.m. July 24 in Room 183 of the Health and Business Technology Building on the college's main campus, 1700 Spartan Drive, Elgin. Sponsored by the National League for Nursing, the exams take approximately four hours. The exam is a prerequisite for admission into the program and is an opportunity for entry into the spring or fall 2009 classes.
