Briefs: Man robbed at gunpoint
A man wearing a white cloth over his face pointed a silver semiautomatic handgun at a 35-year-old man and demanded money at around 3 a.m. Saturday in Mount Prospect, police said. The victim gave his wallet to the robber, who then attempted to strike the victim with his gun, police reports said. The incident occurred on the 1200 block of Boxwood Drive, and police said the victim ran south across Boxwood Drive and saw the robber run northwest toward Euclid Avenue. The offender was described as 18 years old, 5 feet 10 inches tall, 150 pounds and wearing black pants, black hooded sweat shirt and the white cloth, reports said. An officer found the cloth on the ground near the robbery; an Elk Grove Village police dog tracked the robber to the north side of the Randhurst Jewel-Osco store on Euclid but lost the scent, reports added. The value of the wallet and contents was estimated at $250.
