McHenry County motorcyclist dies after Fox Lake crash

Police are investigating the death of a Johnsburg man who died after his motorcyle collided with another vehicle Saturday afternoon.

William J. Steinbock, 64, died shortly after the accident, which occurred at about 12:30 p.m. along Route 12 near Oak Street in Fox Lake. He was not wearing a helmet, police said.

Preliminary results indicated he suffered extensive head and chest trauma, McHenry County Deputy Coroner Robert Locke said.

Steinbock was taken by ambulance to Centegra Northern Illinois Medical Center in McHenry. He was pronounced dead at about 1:30 p.m.

An autopsy is scheduled for Monday morning.
