Praise for a man of great character

On behalf of the residents of DuPage County, and as a resident for more than 20 years, I would like to express heartfelt gratitude to Bill Simmons (who is retiring after almost 40 years in law enforcement) for his years of invaluable service to us all. It is because of the character and determination of people like you, Mr. Simmons, that we enjoy the high quality of life in this county that we do.

Not only that, but also I believe your life choices will have ripples of impact for good that far surpass our capacity to imagine. Few of us can truly comprehend the sacrifices you have made to help those in your circle of influence and to truly become all you have been called by God to be. We can only pray for God to grant you many more years of blessings in which to enjoy your retirement and family and try in our own way by God's grace to follow your example.

Hearty thanks also to the Daily Herald editors for choosing to run such a story as front page news, a spot of which it was truly worthy!
