Family friendly fun in Bloomingdale
With two stages of entertainment, a carnival full of rides and games, dazzling fireworks and delicious food, Bloomingdale's Family Fest brings families back day after day. This year's event boasts a mix of local, regional and national acts - as well as a stage just for those with little ones in tow. Daily Herald Staff Writer Hafsa Naz Mahmood asked Family Fest Co-Chair Kandice Krettler what to expect at this year's event.
Q. What's new this year?
A. The Family Fun Activity Tent has new activities including; a balloonist, face painting, Guitar Hero, and Sand Art. This tent will be open from 1 to 5 p.m. on Saturday, June 28 and Sunday, June 25, 2008. Best of all, the activities are free!
Q. What's everyone's favorite each year?
A. We have always received very positive comments on the food vendors and entertainment.
Q. Other than the big entertainers, what kind of entertainment will people find?
A. We will have a karate team performance, the Mayer School of Irish Dancing, radio stations, a Family Fun Activity Tent, rides, Bingo, and business tent vendors.
Q. Tell us about the carnival.
A. Windy City Amusements, Inc. will operate the carnival and fun booths.
Q. How many rides & games?
A. There will be no less than 18 rides and several fun booths.
Q. What's the food vendor lineup?
A. The following food vendors will be participating; Bloomingdale Township Republican Party, Dippin' Dots, Genoa Pizza and Italian Concessions, Golden Nest, Lopez Concessions, Lunch Wagon Food Company, Oberweis Ice Cream and Dairy Store, Old Neighborhood, Inc., Pronto's, Silver Lake Restaurant, and Suzie's Fun Foods.

A. There is no on-site parking. However, there are various shuttle bus locations throughout the Village of Bloomingdale including Stratford Junior High, Indian Lakes Resort (east end of the parking lot), Westfield School, Winnebago School and DuJardin School.

A. The event is sponsored by the Village of Bloomingdale and the Bloomingdale Park District. In addition, there are various corporate sponsors.
