Convention bureau honors members

The Woodfield Chicago Northwest Convention Bureau honored the following members with its Betty Bryant Award during the annual membership luncheon last week at the Sheraton Chicago Northwest in Arlington Heights:

Dan Smith, vice president, First Hospitality Group

Kristine Stabler, vice president, Arlington Park

Dave Steiner, immediate past board chair, Woodfield Chicago NW Convention Bureau

Marc Strich, general manager, Woodfield mall

Thomas Palmer, partner, Meltzer, Purtill & Stelle LLC.

The honor recognizes extraordinary contributions of time and energy to the convention bureau and devotion to the economic impact from tourism, marketing and the tourism industry.

Also recognized with a Betty Bryant Award for 21 years of service and dedication was

Lynda Claytor, vice president of the convention bureau, received a Betty Bryant Award for 21 years of service and dedication.

The awards are named in honor of Betty Bryant, long time marketing director for Woodfield mall and a founding board director of the convention bureau.

Incline marathon at Hoffman Estates

The second annual Chicagoland Inline Marathon will kick off 8 a.m. Saturday, July 26, at the Hilton Garden Inn in Hoffman Estates.

The Chicagoland Inline Marathon caters to all levels and ages, and the event includes an industry skate expo, a free "Young Guns" race for those under 8 years old, a 1-mile race for those under 12 years old, a recreational half marathon and a full 26.2-mile marathon for recreational, advanced, pro and pro-master skaters. About 500 skaters are expected.

The event is organized by the village of Hoffman Estates, Chicago's Team Rainbo incline skating club, All Communities Events, Inc. and more than 20 corporate sponsors. It will feature recreational, fitness and expert skaters who by participating will help support Special Olympics North America.

Palatine library seeks patron input

The Palatine Public Library District is evaluating its space and needs to identify what, if any, renovation should be done at the Main Library.
