Briefs: No water restrictions

East Dundee has announced that the village has lifted all water restrictions until further notice. Residents can water their lawns and flowers, fill swimming pools, etc. at their leisure without being restricted by the even/odd day rule. Elgin group staffs market

Activate Elgin will staff an educational booth from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Thursday at the Downtown Elgin Harvest Market. Activate Elgin is a citywide initiative to engage all sectors of the community to work in harmony providing all residents with opportunities to improve their health, well-being and overall quality of life. The market is held at the civic center parking lot at the corner of East Highland and Douglas, near the post office and city hall.

Nominate a business

July 3 is the deadline to nominate a Lake in the Hills business for the Gordon Larson Business Achievement award, which honors contributions businesses have made to the community. The village's business relations committee reviews applications. Nomination forms are available at www.lith.org. The winner will be announced Aug. 14.

See the new fire station

A dedication and open house for Elgin Fire Station 7 will be held from 10 a.m. to noon Saturday at the station, 3270 Longcommon Parkway. Refreshments will be served and tours offered. The west-side station opened in early May. For more information, call (847) 931-5601 or visit www.cityofelgin.org.
