Lake in the Hills man will pay for his destructive driving
A Lake in the Hills man was ordered to pay $2,100 to his hometown Monday after pleading guilty to charges he plowed over three trees and a fire hydrant outside village hall and a neighboring school.
Adam N. Webb, 21, admitted guilt to criminal damage to property and failure to notify of damage, both misdemeanors, under a plea bargain that allowed him to avoid prosecution on felony charges initially filed.
Police said Webb used his 1998 Jeep to intentionally drive over a 12-foot tree, a 5-foot tree and a fire hydrant near village hall and a 12-foot tree outside Lincoln Prairie School.
Webb was arrested after police discovered damage to his Jeep matched damage to the trees and hydrant. Authorities said Webb was not acting because of any particular grudge or issue with the village.
Besides restitution, Webb must serve one year's probation and pay $1,500 in fines under the plea deal struck Monday with McHenry County and Lake in the Hills prosecutors.
