Support legislation to protect children

Thank you for your editorial endorsement of Senate Bill 2091 introduced by Sen. Haine. I, along with many, many friends are very interested in seeing that all that is possible is done to protect children from abuse. It is exciting to see this bill proposed and the possibilities of better protecting kids by holding institutions accountable for making sure sexually abusive people are not allowed access to them. Many thanks for adding your support. Hopefully the bill will now pass the Senate and be signed by the Governor.

I am so grateful that more and more legislators are beginning to step up to sponsor legislation to better protect our children in Illinois. One major obstacle that needs to be removed is the statute of limitations (SOL) on cases of childhood sexual abuse. Doing away with the SOL as has been done in a few other states will offer the possibility for justice to past victims.
