You won't get in to the series for under $100

With baseball fever running rampant in Chicago, tickets for this weekend's Cubs-Sox series at Wrigley Field have long been sold out.

But seats are still available -- for the right price, of course.

Online ticket services, like Stub Hub, eBay and Craigslist, tout plenty of seats for sale in nearly every section of the park.

On Stub Hub, advertised prices range from $100 for obstructed views to nearly $1,500 for a third-row seat Sunday night.

Nick Terlap, customer service manager for Chicago ticket broker Vivid Seats, said tickets for the Cubs-Sox games are flying out of their hands, but they still have a wide range available.

Those are going for $100 for standing-room-only to $600 for a box seat, he said.

Sales really started to pick up after the South Siders' eight-game winning streak last month to set up the showdown of the two first-place teams.

"We are definitely seeing a surge more recently," he said.

Of several brokers interviewed, none could say exactly how much ticket prices have jumped since last year, when the Sox were in the midst of a dreadful season and the Cubs were still waiting to get hot. But all agreed this year's success is helping sales.

"The fact that they are both in first place certainly helps," said Dale Soderholm of Front Row Tickets in Hinsdale, where tickets were selling between $100 and $500.

Those looking for a slightly cheaper option could consider waiting until next weekend's rematch at U.S. Cellular Field.

Soderholm said tickets for the three games on the South Side are going for $85 to $350.

Still, the longer one waits, the higher those prices could go.

"The demand is going to be very big for (the games) at Sox Park, too," Soderholm said.

Stub Hub lists tickets for U.S. Cellular games at $50 to $1,200.

If there's any question about just how feverishly brokers are selling tickets for the six upcoming games between the Cubs and Sox, just ask Tickets First Class's John Hogan.

The Denver resident, who works out of the broker's Rocky Mountain office, flew in Wednesday to the Chicago office just to help out with the flood of calls it's been getting for tickets.

"It is insane," Hogan said. "We haven't seen anything like this since the Yankees and Red Sox came to Wrigley" in 2003 and 2005, respectively.
