Briefs: Meeting on east side plans
The Community Unit District 300 school board today will hold a work session on three proposals to fix crowded east side schools. The plans would add at least 12 classrooms to schools on the east side, expand full-day kindergarten and preschool and move hundreds of students to less-crowded schools. The work session will be held at 7 p.m. today at the administration building, 300 Cleveland Ave., Carpentersville. The board is scheduled to vote on the proposals at its next meeting at 6:30 p.m. Monday.
Fresh produce in Algonquin
Thursdays in Algonquin mean it's time for fresh fruit and vegetables. The Downtown Algonquin Partnership Merchants Association is holding its annual farmers market from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Thursdays through Oct. 2 in the parking lot on South Harrison Street, in the village's Old Town district. Poker Run on tap
The Anvil Club in East Dundee will host its Motor Cycle Poker Run at 9:30 a.m. Saturday to benefit the Shop with a Cop charity. Officers from the East Dundee, West Dundee, Carpentersville, Gilberts and Sleepy Hollow police departments will participate. The Shop with a Cop program aims to provide disadvantaged children with holiday gifts and interact with law enforcement officers in a positive manner.
