GOP continues to borrow and spend
In reference to the cartoon Saturday where the Obama tour bus is headed toward "Tax and Spend," I hope you print another cartoon of a McCain tour bus headed toward "Borrow and Spend."
Ever since Ronald Reagan, Republicans have had the false belief that their incessant deficit spending has no ramifications to any of us.
Are you not aware of the hundreds of billions of dollars being wasted on interest expense? Are you not aware of the falling value of the dollar on the world currency market?
Just these two areas are in direct relation to the federal deficit now approaching $10 trillion. Runaway inflation is just waiting to occur.
As with Ronald Reagan, George Bush has never even tried to propose a balanced budget. And now listening to John McCain, he is out there proposing more of the same borrow and spend policies that have been leading us to a financial catastrophe.
For all of these people who would like to eliminate "wasteful" spending, I would like to propose the war in Iraq.
Bush already stated on May 1, 2003 that the U.S. had prevailed. Declare victory, again, and bring the troops home.
While we are at it, how about bringing home the troops from Germany, Japan and Korea? Having our troops in these countries is well past their usefulness.
My next proposal is eliminating the conventions for both parties this summer.
And how about eliminating corporate welfare? And welfare being given to other countries?
These are all incredible amounts of wasteful spending.
In order to solve the problem, we the people apparently need to assist our elected representatives in identifying wasteful spending especially since fiscal irresponsibility seems to be the keywords since the days of Ronald Reagan.
