Police say alcohol may have played roll in fall from roof

Alcohol may have been a factor in a 12-foot fall taken this weekend by a Cary man, police said Tuesday.

Kyle Bergeron, 23, of the 100 block of Alma Terrace, had been drinking Sunday before going up to the roof to talk with a 23-year-old woman, Detective Jason Williamson said.

At 4:30 a.m., Bergeron lost his balance and fell from the roof's southwestern corner, landing on his back and rolling over on his stomach, Williamson said.

Paramedics found him in a semi-conscious state.

Not knowing if he hit the concrete or grass first, they summoned a Flight for Life helicopter as a precautionary measure that flew him to Advocate Lutheran General Hospital in Park Ridge, said Capt. Dennis Krenz of the Cary Fire Protection District.

Hospital officials there declined to disclose Bergeron's condition, citing medical privacy laws.

Police don't know Bergeron's level of intoxication or how he got on the roof, Williamson said.

Bergeron faces no citations, he said.
