Why don't police enforce traffic law?

Over the past several months, I have noticed that more and more drivers believe yellow and red are the new green when it comes to turning lanes.

I have watched three, four and sometimes five cars speed up when the light changes to yellow and drive through the left-turn signal's change to red.

Making matters worse, I have watched on-duty police officers see this and do absolutely nothing. I have also seen marked squad cars do it themselves.

The it's-all-about-me attitude demonstrated by these selfish morons is astounding. Is it going to take a van full of children being t-boned because of this common act of selfishness before the police will enforce what I thought was already a law on their books?

Or perhaps, if an officer's child is involved in an accident because of the selfish actions of jerks that are in a hurry, they will enforce the law. Somewhat like MADD have forced DUI laws, due to their losses.
