Impeach more than Blagojevich

Illinois House Speaker Madigan is correct in taking action to suggest impeachment of the governor.

However, both Emil Jones, the Senate president and Michael Madigan, the House speaker, should also be impeached.

All three are top leaders who have avoided addressing the state pension system for many years.

This system is bankrupting the state and needs more attention than any other issue in the history of Illinois.

For every day that goes by, $10 million is added to what taxpayers are responsible for. The voters should not get upset about spending $40,000 per day to have our legislators spend their summers in Springfield.

It is far cheaper to have them sit there until they resolve this $10-million-per-day issue than to spend $40,000 per day having them sit in Springfield all summer and holidays for the rest of the year.

What good are they if they walk away from this issue every year?

We really need are some CFOs from industry, world class business leaders, and outstanding retired business leaders to assist them.

Most legislators simply do not have the backgrounds to contribute anything. This issue is way over their heads so why continue to pretend otherwise?

They seem to be more of the horse trader mentality rather than being capable of contributing anything that requires serious financial planning.

By horse trader, I mean each one has their own agendas for what they want for their districts. Then they bargain with other members of the legislators to get what they each want.

Unfortunately much of what gets approved makes no sense at all for the state as a whole.

Just look at the Mid-America Airport in Southern Illinois. It was supposed to eventually be the O'Hare for southern Illinois but now is a great symbol of waste since no major airline uses it
