Blagojevich declares dozens of Illinois counties disaster areas
Officials in Lake County continued to deliver sandbags and monitor water levels Saturday morning, as the Chain O' Lakes rose another inch overnight.
"We're delivering a few sandbags here and there, but there's nothing real new," said Ed Lescher, emergency management coordinator for Fox Lake.
The National Weather Service predicted water levels would crest Sunday 5 feet over flood levels -- higher even than those reached last summer.
"We're still waiting for more rise in the Chain O' Lakes area," said Lee Shannon, emergency management coordinator for Antioch. "We're going to be sandbagging all weekend."
Gov. Rod Blagojevich has already declared many Illinois counties disaster areas.
