Cyclist killed near Wheaton

A Carol Stream man was killed on his birthday Thursday morning in a collision with a car near Wheaton.

John M. Rigdon was pedaling his bicycle southbound against oncoming traffic on Pleasant Hill Road at about 6:30 a.m. when he collided with a vehicle.

Rigdon died from his injuries. He turned 53 years old on Thursday.

The area near Pleasant Hill and Armbrust roads was closed to traffic for about an hour while DuPage County sheriff's police investigated the accident and interviewed the driver of the vehicle that struck Rigdon.

Davor Jovic, 20, of Winfield, was cited for driving with a suspended license in the incident.
