Briefs: Input on proposals sought
Community Unit District 300 has scheduled a series of public hearings where you can offer feedback on three plans to fix crowded east-side schools. They will be held from 3 to 4 p.m. Friday at Golfview Elementary School, from 5 to 6 p.m. Monday at Perry Elementary School and from 7 to 8 p.m. Monday at Algonquin Middle School. A stenographer will be on hand at each hearing to record comments. Spanish translators also will be available. A video on the three proposals will be shown at the hearings. The school board is scheduled to vote on the plans June 23.
Beach still closed
Butch Hagele Beach remained closed Wednesday in Lake in the Hills because of high E. coli levels. The beach has been closed since last Thursday and will reopen once the E. coli subsides. Water test results released Friday will help determine if organizers should post pone the annual Splish Splash 5k Dash, now scheduled for Saturday. Indian Trail Beach remains open.
Bowes Creek master plan
The Kane County Forest Preserve will hold a public meeting on the master plan for the Bowes Creek Forest Preserve in Plato Township from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. Monday. Residents can look at the plans for the preserve, ask questions and submit comments. The meeting will be in Building G at the Kane County Government Center, 719 Batavia Ave. in Geneva. Algonquin cracks down
Algonquin police issued 100 seat belt tickets and eight child safety seat tickets during the Click it or Ticket crackdown period from May 16 to June 1. The sting also netted eight uninsured motorists and the arrest of a fugitive, police said.
