Help for caregivers of mentally ill
NAMI Elk Grove/Schaumburg offers two support groups for people who have a family member or friend with mental illness. The groups provide opportunities to share practical experience in locating services, reinforcing coping skills and exchanging emotional support. The groups meet at the following two locations each month: 6:45-8:45 p.m. every second Thursday of the month at Kenneth Young Center, 1001 Rohlwing Road in Elk Grove Village; and 7-9 p.m. every third Thursday at Hanover Park Branch of the Schaumburg Township District Library, 1266 Irving Park Road in Hanover Park. Lions Club hosts market on Sundays
The Mount Prospect Lions Club Farmers' Market will be held from 8 a.m.-1 p.m. Sundays through October at the Metra train station parking lot in downtown Mount Prospect, Route 83 Elmhurst Road and Northwest Highway.
The market features six farm vendors from Illinois and Michigan; nine food vendors with a selection of seafood, beef, baked goods, spices, and sauces; and eighteen craft and home produce vendors. Money raised from the market is donated to local charities. The Mount Prospect Lions Club will also be collecting used eyeglasses, cell phones, and ink printer cartridges for recycling. Buffalo Grove hosts blood drive Saturday

Heirloom quilt exhibit at museum
Quilted Heirlooms, the Arlington Height Historical Museum's newest exhibition, continues through Aug. 17 at the museum's Heritage Gallery, 112 W. Fremont St. The exhibit showcases quilts and other related items, drawn from the historical society's collection, spanning the last 150 years.
The Heritage Shop offers a selection of historical toys and books, along with local history memorabilia. Gallery hours are 1:30 to 4:30 p.m. Friday through Sunday. A suggested donation of $2 is recommended. Call (847) 255-1225, or visit www.ahmuseum.org.
Ice cream social for seniors in Hoffman
The Hoffman Estates Commission for Senior Citizens holds its annual Crazy Bunco and Ice Cream Social from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. on Wednesday, June 18 at Brighton Gardens of Hoffman Estates, 2150 W. Golf Road.
