Teen pool party in Palatine Friday
The Palatine Park District will host a teen pool party from 8 to 10 p.m. Friday at Birchwood Pool, 435 W. Illinois Ave. Open to ages 12 to 16, the party will include swimming, music, food and giveaways. The cost is $5 in advance and $8 at the door. Call (847) 991-0333.
Ice cream social for seniors in Hoffman
The Hoffman Estates Commission for Senior Citizens holds its annual Crazy Bunco and Ice Cream Social from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. on Wednesday, June 18 at Brighton Gardens of Hoffman Estates, 2150 W. Golf Road.
Bring four new or gently used wrapped gifts to play. Winners take a gift or steal a gift from someone else. All players will leave with a prize. Seating is limited, RSVP by Friday to (847) 755-0735.
Support Hanover Township troops
On Friday and Saturday the Hanover Township clerks office will host its fourth annual 24 Hour Support Our Troops Marathon beginning at 4 p.m. with a reception to honor Hanover Township Honor Roll Veterans.
The marathon is designed to encourage people to come out to the township grounds, 250 S. Route 59, Bartlett, and donate items that will go into care packages to be delivered to troops serving in combat areas.
A Classic Car Show with DJ Tony Adelfio will be held from 5-10 p.m. Friday. Those interested in showing their cars are asked to contact the clerk's office or download a form from the township's Web site.
From 8 a.m.-2 p.m. Saturday activities will include crafts for all ages which will be sent to the troops, face painting, moonwalk, touch-a-truck and a free car wash. Food and soft refreshments will be available along with a 50/50 raffle and more.

Relay For Life event set for Tri-Villages
The Relay For Life of Bartlett, Hanover Park and Streamwood will be held at Community Park in Hanover Park from 6 p.m. Friday to 6 a.m. Saturday.
Communities nationwide gather each year to take part in the fight against cancer. It's a time and place where people come to celebrate those who have survived cancer, remember those we've lost and fight back against a disease that touches too many lives.

Open Auditions for 'Star Spangled Girl'
Open auditions will be held Thursday-Saturday, at Valeo Academy, 2500 Beverly Road, Hoffman Estates, for Hidden Talent's production of Neil Simon's "Star Spangled Girl."
Laura Knoerr, artistic director, Hidden Talent, will cast and direct the production. Roles open are: one role for men ages 18-49 and one role for women ages 18-49. Auditions will consist of cold readings from the script. Performances will be held from Aug. 22-31 at Cutting Hall in Palatine. Senior social at Greencastle
The Barrington Area Council on Aging and Greencastle of Barrington invite all Barrington-area seniors to attend the Thursday lunch program at Greencastle from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. for the "Senior Social" and luncheon. Greencastle is located at 445 E. Main St. in Barrington. Parking is available next door at First Church of Christ Scientist. Lunch is served at noon for a suggested donation of $3.50.
