The League of Women Voters will hold a voter-registration drive at the Huntley Area Public Library from 1 to 3 p.m. June 11 and 12. Bring two forms of identification: one with a current address and another with your name. You can also register for the library's summer reading programs at the same time. Preserve work today
Buffalo Park Forest Preserve in Algonquin will be closed today for repaving of the entrances and main parking lot. The maintenance work had been scheduled for Monday but was pushed back one day due to weather. The contractor on the village of Algonquin's neighboring waste water treatment plant is repaving the entrance and parking area after finishing its work. The preserve is expected to reopen Wednesday.
First Aid/CPR for pets
Elgin Community College is offering a pet CPR and first-aid class Thursday in room 112 of the Instruction Center, 1700 Spartan Drive, Elgin. Class topics include canine and feline CPR, rescue breathing, bleeding and wound management and snout-to-tail wellness assessment.
