Kirk stays strong against Iran

The president of Iran, Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, is in the news for yet again threatening Israel with destruction.

At a celebration marking the death of Ayatollah Khomeini, Ahmadinejad said of Israel: "You should know that the criminal and terrorist Zionist regime which has 60 years of plundering, aggression and crimes in its file has reached the end of its work and will soon disappear off the geographical scene."

That the leader of a country actively working to acquire nuclear weapons would openly threaten Israel in such a manner deeply concerns me.

But I can be proud today because one of the leaders of the effort to make sure that Iran can never threaten Israel is my Congressman, Mark Kirk.

It was Kirk who pushed the U.S. government to sell Israel an advanced radar system to ward off nuclear attack from Iran.

Israel has no better friend than Kirk and I will proudly vote to re-elect him this November.
