Wayne Flag Day parade:

The village of Wayne will have its annual Flag Day parade and community ice cream social Sunday. The parade steps off at 3:30 p.m. from Railroad Street and goes east to the Little Home Church by the Wayside, 32W128 Army Trail Road. An ice cream social featuring live jazz music and homemade cakes will follow in the church courtyard. A $2 donation is suggested. The event is open to the public. Police will close part of Army Trail Road during the parade.

Dog wash Sunday:

The Fantastic 4-H Club of St. Charles will have a dog wash Sunday to raise money for a nonprofit horse rescue agency. The event is planned for 1 to 4 p.m. at the Campton Township Community Center, 5N082 Old La Fox Road, Campton Hills. The suggested donation to have a dog washed is $5. Homemade dog treats also will be available. Proceeds benefit Field of Dreams Horse Rescue and Adoption in St. Charles. For more information, call (630) 816-6071.

Wayne blood drive:

A blood drive is planned for 7:30 a.m. to noon Saturday at Resurrection Catholic Church, at Route 59 and Army Trail Road in Wayne. Donors will receive a free quart of ice cream. For more information, call (800) 786-4483.

Art exhibit at history center:

An exhibit by the Wayne Art League will be on display today as part of the Geneva History Center's monthly First Friday program. Pieces by 20 artists, including watercolors, oils and acrylics, will be exhibited and for sale from 5 to 8 p.m. Refreshments will be served. The history center is located at 113 S. St. Charles road closures:

St. Charles police are reminding travelers several streets and parking lots across downtown will be closed for the 2008 Pride of the Fox RiverFest today through Sunday. Motorists hoping to avoid delays are encouraged to avoid Route 64, or Main Street, between Seventh Street to the west of the Fox River and Seventh Avenue to the east, police said. Roads around Pottawatomie Park, 8 North Ave., also are expected to be congested. Police will be on hand to guide traffic during peak hours, officials said.
