Collection drive set for old electronics

West Dundee officials will have a third electronics collection drive from 9 a.m. to noon Saturday at the public works garage on Angle Tarn Drive.

Residents can drop off their used computers, televisions, keyboards, cellular telephones and stereos.

"All we ask is people deliver it to us and we'll take it," said Larry Kelly, West Dundee village president. "It's amazing how many items we collected during our first two drives. We collected power cords, a microwave oven, and chargers for telephones and cameras."

The items are taken to the Kane County Government Center. Employees there give them to a firm in Detroit, Mich. where they are refurbished.

West Dundee trustees started the drives to divert some of the items from state landfills that are quickly filling up.

For information, call the West Dundee village hall at (847) 551-3800.
