What's your education philosophy in one sentence? Education helps us to live a fuller, richer life and to understand society and our role in it.

Personal hero: My mom. She raised us and gave us all the essentials to live, including education.

How did you wind up in education? The people who influenced me as a child were my teachers, specifically my third-grade teacher. I always respected what the teaching profession stands for.

What is your dream vacation? Hot beaches, ocean, relaxing. If I have this and my family, I can have a dream vacation anywhere in the world! Oh, I forgot, some money in my wallet.

If you won the biggest lottery in history you'd … travel all over the world.

Favorite reality show? "The Apprentice."

Cubs or Sox? None.

If you could invite one literary character to dinner, who would you pick and why? C.S. Lewis.

Musical guilty pleasures? Spanish pop.

Favorite childhood book? My mom was always very busy so we did not read books except school textbooks.

Bungee jumping, rappelling or parachuting? Parachuting.

Latest new "it" word you've heard from a student? Can't remember.

What lasting impression do you hope to leave? We all can be successful in our way.

What's the worst influence on today's youth? TV, video games, etc.

Thing that makes today's students distinct? There is a lot more information that they are exposed to on a daily basis (media, etc.)

If I could change one thing about the world it would be … poverty. People in poor countries wouldn't be hungry.

If you could paint your office any color it would be … green or blue.
