Elgin National
Pirates 11, Giants 4: With some timely hitting from Tyler Lane (2-for-3, 2 doubles, 3 RBI) and Austin Vana (hit, 2 RBI), the Pirates took this May 9 Minor boys West victory. Lane was on the mound for the win, while teammate Riccando Nonman came in for 2 solid innings of relief to earn the save. Nick Koecknitz led the defense with a big play at third base.
Pirates 10, Reds 5: A 5-run fourth inning helped the Pirates pick up this May 16 Minor boys West win over the Reds. At the dish, Noah Grissette (2-for-2, 2b, 3 RBI) and Tyler Lane (2-for-2, 2 RBI) led the Pirate offense.
On the hill, Austin Vana got the win, while Dylan Morawski earned the save. Hayden Gibson also threw three solid innings to contribute. Defensively, Joey Silva made a great play at first to end the game.
Indians 5, Giants 4: Trailing 4-3 going into the sixth inning, the Indians saw single runs cross the plate in both the sixth and seventh innings to earn this May 18 Major West contest in come-from-behind fashion.
In the fifth inning, Caine Wheeler (HR, 2 RBI) hit a 2-run home run to tie things up. Wheeler later scored the winning run on a passed ball. Also coming up with timely hits were Clay White (2b, RBI) and Jake Lafrenz (2b).
On the hill, Nathan Hasken earned the win, while White got the save.
Elgin National 6, South Elgin Cubs 4: Behind a solid outing on the mound from Dan Phelan who fanned six batters in 5½ innings of work, Elgin National earned this May 18 Senior Division win over the South Elgin Cubs. Joe Kellenberger came in for the save striking out two and picking off a runner at first.
Plate efforts were led by Ryan Walker (2b, run), Derek Porto (2-for-2, 2b) and Chris Ramirez (2b).
Elgin Continental Little League
Diamondbacks 14, Streamwood 3: Senior Diamondbacks opened the Metro season May 18 with a 14-3 win over Streamwood. Lucas Wandell pitched 5 innings with 12 strikeouts. Chad Meado led the scoring with a 3 for 5 day, Kyle Fulin was also 3 for 5 with two runs scored, Jacob Allen was 2 for 5 with a solo home run in the 5th inning. Jordan Perez and Kyle Garand each added 2 RBI's. Angel Aguilar was 2 for 3 with three walks.
