Fox Lake man pleads guilty to sex crimes

A Fox Lake man pleaded guilty Tuesday to six counts of manufacturing child pornography.

Michael Macalindong, 25, faces a minimum of 25 years in prison and a maximum of life, said Randall Samborn, a spokesman for the U.S. attorney's office.

He also pleaded guilty to one count of possession of child pornography and one count of attempted child enticement.

Macalindong managed to lure at least three minors into having sex with him and videotaping it, according to testimony in his case.

He later used the tapes to coerce the children into continuing to have sex with him by threatening to release the tapes to their friends, family and, in one case, football coach.

Macalindong was prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Edward Siskel and defended by public defender Helen Kim. He will be sentenced Aug. 14.
