Doing something right at Fenton
Catch someone doing something right. If you use this mantra, it will certainly bring out the best in you and the person/people who were "caught".
This type of thought process does not fall in line with the typical thinking you see in this day and age. Too often, the media reports on news that is negative in nature. As a result, feel-good stories sometimes go by the wayside.
Well, I have caught someone doing something right three times in recent weeks and I think others should know about it.
In the beginning of May Fenton High School in Bensenville put on the play "High School Musical". The production was excellent. The students performed great, the community came out to see them and almost filled the auditorium for multiple performances. The young children of all ages in the audience participated during the show and after by meeting their favorite cast member. It was great.
On Monday, May 12 I attended the Fenton High Spring Choral Concert. This was another gathering of choir-student parents, supporters and loved ones. From the beginning to the end each student performed well and put forth a noteworthy event. The time, talent and individual/group performances were above and beyond expectations.
Then I attended the Fenton High School National Honor Society induction ceremony. The number of people in the audience was less yet the magnitude of the event was awesome to say the least. New members were inducted into the NHS and the departing senior class members were allowed to say a few last words to their classmates, family and receive a rose from a person they selected. The guest speaker, Mr. Porter, brought home a message to everyone in the audience that they will remember for many years.
Please join me in catching Fenton High School teachers, administration, students and all support staff doing something right! Spread the word.
Proud parent of a soon-to- be Fenton junior and a Fenton freshman.
