Dist. 54 celebrates 50th

Fairview and Lakeview elementary schools in Hoffman Estates are celebrating their 50th anniversaries with a special historic exhibit featuring all Schaumburg Township Elementary District 54 schools. The event will take place from 10 a.m. to noon June 7 at Fairview's gym, 375 Arizona Blvd. A luncheon which will honor village namesake Jack Hoffman for his contributions to District 54 will begin at 12:30 p.m. Luncheon tickets are $25 per person, and profits will benefit the Hoffman Estates History Museum. For more information, call Village Historian Pat Barch at (847) 755-9630.

Village meetings change

There's a slight change in the schedule for next week's Hoffman Estates village meetings. Already pushed to Tuesday because of Monday's Memorial Day holiday, the committee meetings will now start at 8 p.m. -- 30 minutes later than usual -- at village hall. A special planning, building and zoning committee meeting will take place after the three regularly scheduled meetings: finance, public health and safety and public works and utilities.
