Check out public works at Saturday's open house

The Cary's Department of Public Works will host an "Open House" at the public works facility from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday. The public works facility is at 454 Cary Woods Circle.

Residents can view vehicles from the public works department along with those from the police department and the Fire Protection District. In addition, tours of the Wastewater Treatment Plant will be available for all those who are interested.

In conjunction with the public works open house will be a Cub Scout Recruitment Day. Six Cub packs from the local Cub Scouts will be hosting special recruitment opportunities at the public works garage. Representatives from the six different Cub Scout Packs in Cary will have informational booths displaying what their particular pack has to offer to boys interested in joining the Cub Scouts.

Child ID kits will be provided by the Cary Police Department. Activities for the entire family and refreshments will be available.

"The village of Cary is excited to provide this open house to residents and bring attention to the important role that village staff plays in our community," said Public Works Chairman Tom Kierna. "In addition, the village recognizes how important Scouting is to young people, and we are proud to be able to open our doors and help the local packs promote their organization. I encourage all residents to take an active part in the Open House and Recruitment Day."
