Same-sex unions should be allowed
Evolution is more fact than theory; change happens.
A few years before I was born, Teddy Roosevelt said, "Little words have guts."
The Herald editorial Monday urges us to take a stand on same-sex unions.
Well, OK, have a legal union for homosexuals but do not call it a marriage unless a way for such unions to procreate their own flesh and blood children can be found.
Marriage is a sacred term for millions of people.
On top of that, give me back the good three-letter word "gay." Then we will be able to again sing several good folk songs that use the real meaning of the word.
Lesbian is a perfectly good word for the girls of same-sex pairs but the boy needs a new respectable name.
It is understandable they resent being called "queer" but for the most part, homosexual men I have known certainly are not "gay" as in the true meaning of the word.
Invent a new word, clean up the parades and get rid of the vulgar and distasteful facets.
The same goes for lifestyle. That will help control HIV.
There are millions of respectable people who were born with same-sex preferences. They have rights and should have the option of having a legal same-sex union.
