Turn out to save downtown MP

Please attend the Mount Prospect village board meeting Tuesday, May 20, at 7 p.m. in the village hall.

This is about the village's approval of a developer's $40 million proposal for six- and seven-story buildings between Main and Emerson streets; Northwest Highway; and vacating Busse Street.

The village wants to take away Ye Olde Town Inn's property and give it to a developer. This includes land to be taken by eminent domain, vacating a public street and village-owned property.

Do you want the last vestige of old downtown to disappear? You elected these trustees, speak up and out. Save your village from further destruction for the benefit of a developer.

The village will be giving away more than $9 million of village funds, Busse avenue and land. More than 60 existing parking spaces will be lost for customer parking for existing businesses and restaurants. The parking garage entry to the proposed building will also impact access for the Central and Main street condominiums to the north of Busse Avenue.

The proposal also includes the use of the commuter parking lot across Northwest Highway for the businesses.
