Cardinal George to ordain new priests
Francis Cardinal George, archbishop of Chicago, will confer the sacrament of priestly ordination today and May 29 on 13 men who will serve as priests for the Archdiocese of Chicago.
Today at 10 a.m. Cardinal George will ordain 11 men from the University of St. Mary of the Lake/Mundelein Seminary at St. Juliana Church, 7201 N. Oketo Ave., Chicago. In ceremonies beginning at 7:30 p.m. May 29 at St. John Cantius Church, 825 N. Carpenter, Chicago, Cardinal George will ordain two professed members of the Canons Regular of St. John Cantius as priests for the Archdiocese of Chicago.
Being ordained at St. Juliana Church on May 17 are:
• Juan Pablo Ávila-Ibana, 29, was born, raised and completed his elementary and secondary education in Mexico. He will be assigned to St. Agnes Parish in Chicago Heights.
• Diego Berrió, 27, was born, raised and completed his elementary and secondary education in Columbia. He will be assigned to St. Edna Parish, 2525 N. Arlington Heights Road, Arlington Heights.
• Maciej Galle, 30, was born, raised and completed his elementary and secondary education in Poland. He will be assigned to St. Stephen Deacon and Martyr Parish in Tinley Park.
• Jose María García-Moldonado, 28, was born, raised and completed his high school and college seminary studies in Jalisco, Mexico. He will be assigned to St. Sylvester Parish in Chicago.
• Michal Lewon, 27, was born, raised and completed his elementary, secondary and college attending Uniwersytet Warminsko-Mazurski. He will be assigned to St. Mary Parish in Riverside.
• Thadeo Mgimba, 33, was born, raised and completed his elementary and secondary education in Tanzania before attending the Salvatorian Institute of Philosophy in Tanzania and Tangaza College in Kenya. He will be assigned to Holy Name of Mary Parish in Chicago.
• Laurent Mhagama, 33, was born and raised in Tanzania. He will be assigned to St. Christopher Parish in Midlothian.
• Robeth Molina, 38, was born, raised and completed his university education in Ecuador at the Pontifical University before attending Mundelein Seminary. He will be assigned to Our Lady of Perpetual Help Parish in Glenview.
• Marcin Szczypula, 26, was born, raised and completed his seminary education in Poland before coming to Chicago. He will be assigned to SS. Cyril & Methodius Parish in Lemont.
• Grzegorz Wojcik, 27, was born, raised and completed his education in Poland. His first Solemn Mass of Thanksgiving will be at 11 a.m. Sunday at St. John the Evangelist Parish, 502 S. Park Blvd., Streamwood. Beginning July 1, he will be assigned to Sacred Heart Parish in Palos Hills.
• Przemyslaw "Peter" Wojcik, 27, was born, raised and completed his elementary and secondary education in Poland. His first Solemn Mass of Thanksgiving will be at 3:30 p.m. Sunday at St. John Brebeuf Parish, 8307 N. Harlem Ave., Niles. Beginning July 1, he will be assigned to St. Francis Xavier Parish in Wilmette.
Being ordained at St. John Cantius on May 29 are:
• Bartholomew Juncer, S.J.C., 50, was born in Waukegan and graduated from St. Bartholomew Grade School in Waukegan and Quigley Preparatory Seminary (North). Juncer's professional career includes nearly 20 years as a teacher at St. Viator High School in Arlington Heights. He will be assigned to St. John Cantius Parish in Chicago after his ordination.
• Anthony Rice, S.J.C., 45, was born in Tuscaloosa, Ala., and graduated from Holy Spirit Grade School in Tuscaloosa and Tuscaloosa High School. He will be assigned to St. Peter Parish, 27570 Volo Village Road, Volo, after his ordination.
