Right way to run a presidential debate

I must disagree with Mr. Farnham's disappointment with the presidential nominee debate. This was real Q&A instead of what in the past has passed for a so-called "debate".

Follow up questions make all the difference between a ho-hum event and a look at what all our future presidents think. Every nominee likes to either over-talk the question or simply not answer what was asked. This time, Obama tried to razzle-dazzle his way around tax questions regarding what effect an increase in some taxes would have on income. For a change, the follow up questions made him fine tune his answer. His thinking on raising taxes was made clear.

Without pointed follow up questions the person can spin the answer off subject. Whether you agree or disagree with his stand on taxes, at least you received more detail.

This should be the model on the way to run these Q&A events.
