Community Garden Plots: South Elgin Parks & Recreation will be offering their community garden plots are 10 by 14 and will be rented at a price of $35 per season. We will till the plots, provide access to water on-site, and will provide mushroom compost to be used at the gardener's discretion.
Garden plots are at 373 Spring St. in RG Park directly across from Willard Elementary School. If you are interested, call (847) 622-0003 for more information. There are only 20 garden plots available on a first-come, first-serve basis. The first day of planting will be Tuesday.
For tots
Toddlers N' Action: Music, tumbling, and a lot of action!. We put together a class for your toddlers that will keep them interested and engaged. We will have a blast while playing with rhythm instruments, bubbles, tunnels, balance beams, bean bags, parachutes and much more! The class will be held at the Municipal Annex Friday or Saturday from 10:20-11 am. The Friday class begins May 16 and concludes June 20. The Saturday class begins May 24 and concludes June 28. The cost for either class is $39 for residents and $42 for nonresidents.
For youth
Dance Dance Fitness: Dance Dance Revolution is a video game like none other. You won't even notice you're exercising. Come on down and dance your way into shape. We will supply the video game and mats as well as the instructor. Make sure you wear comfortable clothes and gym shoes.
This class is for 7- to 12-year olds and runs from 4:30-5:15 p.m. Thursday, May 15 at the Municipal Annex. The class concludes on June 19. The cost is $35 for residents and $40 for nonresidents.
Kreative Kreations AmericanGirl Springtime Dolls: Girls bring your AmericanGirl doll or other similar sized doll to this awesome class! We will be designing colorful springtime outfits and jewelry. This special class wouldn't be complete without a trip to the beauty shop where we will be decorating each doll's hair with springtime clips and ribbons.
This class is for children 3 to 10 years old and will be held from 6:30-7:30 p.m. May 22 at the Pottawatomie Community Center in St. Charles. The cost is $30 for residents and $32 for non-residents. The registration deadline is Thursday.
For adults
CPR-Heartsaver/Healthcare Provider:ŒThe CPR (Heartsaver/Healthcare Provider) class is designed to certify the lay rescuer, particularly those who are expected to respond to emergencies in the workplace. Participants include security guards, firefighters, police and other lay responders.
The Healthcare Provider portion is intended to teach skills of CPR for victims of all ages, and use of barrier devices and automated external defibrillators. It is intended for, but not limited to, physicians, nurses, paramedics, emergency medical technicians, respiratory therapists, physical therapists and physician's assistants.
The class will be held from 6-10 p.m. May 19 at Fire Station #2 on McDonald Road. The cost is $40 for residents and $50 for non-residents. The registration deadline is Tuesday.
Rhythm City Casino: Rhythm City three-level casino has the hottest heart-poundin', jaw dropping, chart topping action! Get rockin' and rollin' with more than 1,000 red hot slots that pay a lot.

The trip departs at 7:30 a.m. and returns at 7 p.m. on May 21. The cost is $32 for residents and $47 for nonresidents. The registration deadline is Wednesday.
Wine Tasting and Tour: Join the Parks & Recreation staff for a wine tasting and tour at the Lynfred Winery in Roselle. You will have the opportunity to taste seven Lynfred wines and have an educational tour of the wine cellar. After the tasting, the group will be treated to lunch. Don't forget to bring your identification and some extra money, as wine and wine accessories will be available for purchase.
The tour will be from 10 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Saturday, May 24 and will depart from the north parking lot at the Municipal Annex. The cost is $20 for residents and $25 for nonresidents and you must be 21 years old to attend. The registration deadline is Saturday.
