Legislators don't earn their keep
While listening to the news the other day, I heard it mentioned that our representatives in Illinois, who had given themselves 10 percent raises last year, were now giving themselves $7,000 raises.
Later I read in the Herald that potholes might not get fixed because there isn't much money available for this arduous task.
Am I surprised by that statement? Not really.
I think most of us know why the recall issue was shot down. It's because our politicians look out for themselves, first and foremost.
They don't want to put their jobs on the line by having to justify their spending habits to us.
Let's face it, most of our elected officials are not giving us our due and they should be pink slipped if they cannot prove their worth.
