Navistar says earnings are on target
Navistar International Corp., the world's fourth-largest truckmaker, repeated its fiscal 2009 profit target of $1.6 billion from manufacturing operations.
The company also maintained its revenue goal from March 18 of more than $15 billion for the year. Navistar, based in Warrenville, made the comments in slides prepared for a presentation to analysts Wednesday.
Navistar, the maker of International-brand highway trucks, is keeping its forecasts even after saying in March that shipments of trucks and buses fell 37 percent in the quarter ended Jan. 31. The company has been expanding its defense business and said this week it won a three-year, $1.28 billion contract to supply service trucks for the U.S. Army.
