Briefs: Garden market Friday

The Davis Elementary School parent-teacher organization in St. Charles will have its annual garden marketplace fundraiser from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Friday at the school, 1125 S. Seventh St. Items for sale include annuals, perennials, crafts and gifts made or grown locally. Anyone interested in attending as a buyer or seller should call Carolyn Shannon at (630) 443-0566.

Batavia poppy sales

Batavia American Legion Post 504 will hold its annual Poppy Days Sale Friday through Sunday. Members and volunteers will be at the Batavia Jewel-Osco, 119 S. Randall Road, Batavia Wal-Mart, 801 N. Randall Road, and Apple Villa, 1961 W. Wilson St., to collect donations. The money is used to fund scholarships and programs for students in Batavia.

Blood drive in Wayne:

The Little Home Church by the Wayside in Wayne has scheduled a blood drive from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday at 32W128 Army Trail Road. The drive is in conjunction with Heartland Blood Centers based in Aurora. To donate blood, you must be at least 17 years old, or 16 with written parental permission; weigh at least 110 pounds; have no symptoms of cold, flu or allergies; and generally be in good health. Summer sports camps

Registration is due May 16 for summer athletics camps at Geneva High School. After that, a $10 late fee will be charged. Boys and girls in kindergarten through 12th grades are eligible for a variety of camps. For a schedule, costs and application, visit www.geneva304.org and click "Athletics."

Geneva chamber golf

The Gamblers Run Golf Outing is June 2 at Eagle Brook Country Club, 2200 Fargo Blvd., Geneva. Lunch is at 11 a.m., golf starts at 11:30 a.m., dinner is at 5 p.m. Cost is $169 per player, $50 for dinner-only. Proceeds support the Geneva Chamber of Commerce. District 94 seeks nominees

West Chicago High School District 94 is seeking nominees for a new "Hall of Honor" established to recognize individuals who have made significant contributions to the school, community or society. Nomination letters for the Hall of Honor should be sent to Dr. Moses Cheng, Community High School District 94, 326 Joliet Street, West Chicago, IL 60185. The deadline for nominations is May 14.
