Teen bands to clash at tournament in Lions Park

Eight teen bands will show off their talents in the Battle of the Bands competition hosted by the Cary Park District and the Cary Area Public Library.

The competition is scheduled from 1 to 5:30 p.m. Saturday at the Rotary Bandshell in Lions Park, Cary.

The competition gives local musicians a way to showcase their talent. The winning band is decided by a panel of judges and will move on to compete in the regional competition held in August in Glendale Heights. The winner of the regional competition will move on to compete in the state competition in Springfield.

The eight bands scheduled to perform are The Copper Brown Blues Band, !Nueter Boots!, Paralaxx, Poseidon, Thrashold, Uptown Elevation, Washro and Without Return.

Band members are between the ages of 12 and 21 years old. Each band will have 30 minutes to perform and the winner will be announced at the conclusion of the event at 5:30 p.m.

Admission is free and is sponsored by Frisch and Barrett Insurance and Fox River Glass and Mirror. The sound system for the event is donated by Dr. Woods Guitar Emporium.

In the event of inclement weather, rain date will be Sunday.
