Elburn has way to ease recycling woes
Elburn residents, are you tired of chasing down your empty recycling bin? Or do you have too much stuff to fit into the bin?
There's another option now.
You can rent, for $3 a month, a wheeled 35- or 64-gallon toter from Waste Management.
The toters have a hinged lid, which should keep paper in.
Residents had complained about recyclables and trash blowing around, so village workers asked Waste Management for a solution.
"There are people out there wishing for something larger and more substantial," village administrator David Morrison said. "They are tired of chasing their bins."
Renting the toter is optional. If you still want to use the smaller bins, go ahead. And if you need one, call the village hall, (630) 365-5062, to get one.
The 35-gallon toter is the equivalent to two small recycling bins. It is more prone to blowing over in high winds than the 64-gallon toter, Morrison said.
To rent the big toters, call Waste Management at (800) 796-9696. The fee will be added to your monthly garbage bill.
