Image of Bloomingdale bank robber released
Bloomingdale police on Friday released a photo of the man they say robbed a Midwest Bank branch along Lake Street Wednesday.
Authorities believe the suspect is new to the area because no one matching his description and body type has shown up in other recent bank robberies, explained Detective Tom Anzelmo of the Bloomingdale Police Department.
The man walked into the bank from the parking lot on the east side at 2:55 p.m. Wednesday and went up to a teller, police said. He showed her a semi-automatic handgun and demanded she fill a plastic bag with money, telling her "no GPS, no dye packs," Anzelmo said.
Then the man walked out of the building and headed south.
No one saw the suspect get into a car or leave the area. Police dogs were unable to pick up a scent because the man didn't touch anything discernible in or around the building, Anzelmo explained.
The suspect is described as being 5 feet 9 inches tall with a medium to heavy build.
At the time of the robbery, he was wearing a gray jacket with a hoodie covering his head, red baseball cap, gloves, sunglasses, and black tear-away sweatpants.
Anyone with information is asked to call Anzelmo at (630) 529-9868 or the FBI at (630) 505-5755.
