Rev up for a pair of car exhibitions at local high schools

Two Northwest suburban high schools will have some hot wheels on campus this weekend.

Prospect High School will host its first auto show Saturday.

Prospect's show will be from noon to 4 p.m. at the high school, 801 W. Kensington Road. May 10 is the rain date.

Elk Grove High School will return with its fourth annual show on Sunday.

Elk Grove is hosting its show from noon to 3 p.m. in the parking lot of the high school, 500 W. Elk Grove Blvd. There is no rain date listed on the high school's Web site.

Admission is free.

Those who want to showcase their cars must pay $10 on the day of event, or $5 before.

Matthew Kaiser, a Prospect auto teacher, wanted to start the show as a fundraiser for his department.

"Being a car guy and auto teacher, it just kind of followed suit," Kaiser said.

At Saturday's Prospect show, cars will range from a 1965 Ferrari to a 2004 Ford Mustang.

The Mount Prospect Bluesmobile also is slated to roll over to the show at Prospect High School.
