Wrap: Pancratz to play 2 collegiate sports
Drewann Pancratz, the 2007 Daily Herald honorary captain for the all-area girls volleyball team and an all-area basketball player this winter, will continue to play both sports in college.
Pancratz gave her verbal commitment to the volleyball and basketball coaches at Division III Carthage College in Kenosha, Wis., on Thursday.
"I really wanted to play both sports," said Pancratz, who helped lead the Saxons to the Mid-Suburban League volleyball crown last fall and her basketball team to the MSL West title this winter. "And I didn't want to go very far from home.
"Overall, it was the education, location and the people at Carthage. It was a good fit for me."
Pancratz is undecided on a major .
"The coaches were very supportive of me playing both sports," she added. "It's a relief to have made the decision."

Girls volleyball
Jason Kopkowski, a Rolling Meadows graduate and former Mustangs volleyball player, has been named the girls volleyball coach at Wheeling High School.
Kopkowski, a first-year health, physical education and driver's ed teacher at Wheeling, has served as an assistant to head coach Rita Runyard the past several years.
Runyard, a physical education teacher at Wheeling, has resigned her girls volleyball post.
