Police officer charged with assaulting Naperville teen
A 45-year-old Chicago police officer has been relieved of his police duties Wednesday after being charged with battery to a 15-year-old Naperville boy.
Naperville police said Daniel Reschke, of Chicago, was visiting a friend on Naperville's 2300 block of Feldott Lane at about 5 p.m. Wednesday. Naperville Cmdr. Joel Truemper said the boy and one other friend walked by Reschke and "words were exchanged."
"(Reschke) then approached the boy and swung him around several times," Truemper said Wednesday night. "The 15-year-old had several marks on his neck and shoulder from being grabbed but didn't appear to have further injuries."
The boy then went back to his home and alerted his parents, who called the police.
"(Reschke) cooperated with us 100 percent as we took him under arrest," Truemper said. "He bonded out on $100 by 6:55 p.m. and will be in court within the next month."
Truemper said Reschke was off-duty and unarmed at the time. Police do not believe Reschke knew the boy prior to Wednesday's altercation.
A Chicago police spokeswoman would only confirm Reschke was arrested in Naperville and had been stripped of his powers. The case is under investigation by the Chicago police department.
