Concert to mark band's 25th year

The Fox Valley Concert Band of St. Charles, under the direction of Dr. Colin Holman, celebrates its 25th anniversary with a free concert.

"Future: Things to Come" (The 25th Anniversary concert) will feature the premiere performance of the commissioned work (Re-Connected): "Three Incomplete Curves" by Craig Andrew Fitzpatrick at 7:30 p.m. May 17 at Larkin High School, 1475 Larkin Ave, Elgin.

Dr. Holman, celebrating his 15th season conducting the 80-plus members, believes "this season is a tremendous tribute to not only the band members and their incredible skill and dedication, but also our audiences who have supported us so generously over the past 25 years. We have developed a remarkable group of musicians and friends who bring the highest levels of skill, enthusiasm and commitment to the Fox Valley Concert Band.

"These assets have helped us become one of the premiere organizations ofour type in the Chicagoland area," he said.

The Fox Valley Concert Band marked this occasion with the release of the newly created Holiday CD recording "The Most Wonderful Time of Year." The CD is available at concerts and for purchase online.

The Fox Valley Concert Band will also perform during their summer concert series in St. Charles, Batavia, Huntley and at the Wheaton Band Festival on July 19 at the Wheaton Band Shell.

During the Wheaton Band Festival, the Fox Valley Concert Band will perform Aaron Copland's "Lincoln Portrait" with Carl Grapentine of WFMT narrating.
