Dia de los Ninos, Dia de los Libros: Children's Day, Book Day, will feature storyteller Marcia Gutierrez presenting folktales from the Americas and around the world, from 6:30 to 8 p.m., today, during the library's celebration of El Día de los Ninos, a traditional day of celebration in Mexico honoring children. This program brings families and books together for a multicultural event. The evening includes family book sharing, storytelling in both Spanish and English, refreshments, and a chance to meet a favorite book character. All participants will receive a free book to take home.
June Computer Programs: Online registration for the library's June computer programs begins Thursday. June's slate of computer programs will help patrons sharpen their Internet and e-mail usage skills, create documents with Microsoft Word, and provide an introduction to computers for novice users. Patrons may also register for these programs in person at the library. Space is limited for each program.
YouTube and the Personal Video Revolution: YouTube and other video Web sites have transformed the way people use the Internet. This demonstration, held 7:30 p.m., May 6, is led by Indian Trails Public Library IT professional Barry Gerth. Gerth will show participants how to create online video masterpieces using the free downloadable software, MS Moviemaker.
Super Saturday "Cheesprov" Program: The Super Saturday comedy program, based on the short-form improvisational comedy TV show "Whose Line Is It Anyway?" will be from 11 a.m. to noon, May 10.
Working with trained improv professionals from Chicago-based HeadCheese Fat Boss Productions, participants will take part in improvisation and theater games that teach team-building and cooperation skills.
Homeschool Fair: Learn more about programs and services available at the library and in the community for home-schooling families during the Library's Homeschool Fair, 10 to 11:30 a.m., May 7. The program also offers home-schooled children the opportunity to showcase their special projects. Attendees planning to display student projects should notify Youth Services at least one week in advance.
"Food for Thought" Book Discussion: The library's "Food for Thought" book group will meet at 1 p.m., May 7, for a discussion of Susan R. Sloan's "Guilt by Association." The victim of a brutal rape, a courageous young woman attempts to overcome the pain and fear of the attack in order to reclaim her life. Three decades later, she confronts the man who forced himself upon her and forever changed her life. Books are available at the Fiction/AV/Teen Desk. No registration is required.
Movies @ MPPL: The library presents a complimentary movie screening at 7:30 p.m. May 7, and 1 p.m. May 8. For more information on this month's featured film, call (847) 253-5675.
Mother's Day Crafts: The Mother's Day arts and crafts workshop will be from 11:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. May 9. The library supplies all materials. An adult must accompany children under age nine. No registration is required.

"Library Life" is a monthly cable television program highlighting library's services, programs, and activities. It airs on the Village of Mount Prospect's cable access channel (Comcast channel 15 and WOW channel 6). Each 30-minute episode includes book reviews, compelling interviews, upcoming events, monthly program highlights, and library trivia.
Library Executive Director Marilyn Genther was anxious to share this quality programming with as much of Mount Prospect as possible.
