Harrison barbecue: Harrison Street School PTO is sponsoring a BBQ Dinner today. The cost of one dinner is $10, and one dinner can be split between two people.
Pickup will be available from 5 to 6:30 p.m. with curbside delivery available in the parking lot on Dodson Street next to the school. Harrison is at 201 N. Harrison St.

Geranium Sale: The Batavia Woman's Club is taking orders for its 36th annual Geranium Sale. The sale supports the club's scholarship program which assists middle school students who wish to further their studies by attending summer camp/study programs. In 2007 the club awarded 15 scholarships.
The sale consist of premium potted geraniums, hanging geraniums and flats of impatiens. The sale and pickup of pre-orders will be from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Saturday at the Batavia Riverwalk Peg Bond Center located on Houston Street in Batavia. Most flowers are sold through pre-orders. In addition the club will sell new T-shirts, note cards, handmade gift bags and "For-Get-Me-Not" Fashion Show tickets. To place an order for flowers, call Ruth Ellen Russell at (630)879-6235. Library raffle: The Friends of the Town and Country Public Library, 320 E. North St., Elburn, will have a Red/White/Blue Basket Raffle through May 24. All items are donated by Vicki McGuire from Elburn and the Friends of the Library.
Items included are six red, white and blue American flag dishware plates, large mugs and bowls, garden American flag, large crocheted flag blanket, all-American tablecloth, Precious Moments Uncle Sam soft doll and selected books.
Tickets are $1 each or six for $5 and are available at the circulation desk at the library.
The drawing will be held at noon May 24 at the library. All proceeds benefit the library. The Friends are a nonprofit organization. For information, call (630) 365-2244.
Marklund Golf Classic:
Heritage Center raffle: The St. Charles Heritage Center is selling raffle tickets for a chance to win a handmade quilt featuring 54 historic images taken from the St. Charles History Museum photograph collection. Some of the photographs include the Hotel Baker and Arcada Theatre, Blue Goose Grocery Store, Baker Community Center and many more scenes of St. Charles. The quilt is on display at the St. Charles History Museum.
The quilt was handmade by Joanne VanBogaert, a volunteer and member of the Heritage Center to honor the 75th anniversary of the History Museum.
Tickets are $2 each or three for $5 and can be purchased at the History Museum, 215 E. Main St. Tickets will be sold until May 17 with the drawing May 18. The winner will be notified by telephone.
The Heritage Center operates two historic sites, the History Museum and Gift Shop at 215 E Main St. and the Dunham-Hunt House at 304 E. Cedar Ave. The History Museum and Gift Shop are open 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesdays through Saturdays and noon to 4 p.m. Sunday. Da Vinci Academy auction: Da Vinci Academy will hold its annual Benefit Auction at 6 p.m. Saturday at the Q Center in St. Charles.
The event is a key fundraiser for Da Vinci, with proceeds supporting the school's programs for intellectually gifted and talented students in pre-kindergarten to eighth grade.
The event is attended by Da Vinci parents, faculty, friends and guests. Attendees enjoy a gourmet meal along with all of the auction activities: the live and silent auctions, Golden Ticket raffle drawing, and Fund-a-Project items that meet specific requests for academic enhancements.

Barbecue: Herget Middle School PTO is having its annual Fay's BBQ fundraiser from 5 to 7 p. m. Thursday at 1550 Deerpath Road, Aurora.
Tickets are $9 for pre-orders or $10 at the door. This includes either two pork chops, or one pork chop and a quarter chicken, or one-half chicken. All meals include beans, applesauce and a roll. There will be both a drive-through and a dine-in option. The sixth- and seventh-grade bands and choir will perform for those dining in.

Garden Party: Tickets are being sold for the Fox Valley Volunteer Hospice's Garden Party May 27 at the Q Center in St. Charles. It will include a silent auction, themed basket raffle, a performance by entertainers David & Dania and luncheon. Tickets are $60 each. Raffle tickets for themed baskets are available at the cost of one for $5, 10 for $40 and 30 for $100. Those interested may purchase tickets at the FVVH office or download the raffle ticket order form at www.FVVH.org. Winners need not be present at the event to win.
Pajama drive: The North Aurora Mothers Club and Tanner Trails Community Church are partnering to sponsor a Pajama Drive to benefit a charity that supplies new pajamas to foster children.
Many of these children are waiting to be placed in permanent homes.
The family movie night event will be at 7 p.m. Friday at Tanner Trails Community Church, 2301 Tanner Road.
The groups are requesting a donation of a new pair of pajamas, preferably with the tags on and in the package.
Many of the children are in need, and in many cases, have never enjoyed the comfort of having a mom or dad put them to bed at night.
The Pajama Program, which is a not-for-profit organization, is headquartered in New York and helps children in the United States and around the world. More information about the Pajama Program is available at www.pajamaprogram.org.

Plant sale: The Batavia Plain Dirt Gardeners will have its popular plant sale from 9 a.m. to noon May 10 at the Bethany Lutheran Church in Batavia at the corner of Wilson and Lincoln (just one block west of Route 31 on Wilson ).
Native wildflowers, perennials, ferns, hosts, prairie plants, grasses, trees, shrubs, and many hard to find plants will be available. All plants will be labeled, priced and put on tables in categories to assist gardeners. Expert gardeners available to offer planting advice and to answer questions about plants. Bowling for Marklund: Score some strikes, spares and splits, too, at Baird & Warner's "Out of the Gutter at Last," bowling event benefiting Marklund from 6 to 10 p.m. Wednesday at St. Charles Bowl, 2520 W. Main St., St Charles. Tickets include three games of bowling, shoe rental and food from area restaurants. A cash bar will be available. All proceeds will benefit Marklund, helping people with severe and profound developmental disabilities reach their highest potential and live as full a life as possible. Pasta dinner: O'Malley's Bar & Grill at 701 Hill Avenue in Aurora is hosting a mostaccioli dinner on May 13 from 6-8 p.m. to benefit the Association for Individual Development. FoxFare spring gala
"A Day at the Races" is Sunday. This spotlights Fox Valley chefs and caterers providing sample-size portions of their signature dish.
The evening also features the Batavia High School String Quartet and a silent and live auction. Tickets are $45 per person and the event benefits Batavia mainstream to assist with the promotion, planning and preservation of downtown Batavia.
Gates open at 5:30 p.m.
Participating restaurants include Bistro Thai, Daddy's Diner, Desserts by Amy, Enticing Cuisine, Isabella's, Nosh, Perfect Parties, Sage Bistro, and Upper Crust. A coffee and cappuccino bar is provided by Limestone Coffee and Tea. Donations for the silent and live auction are being taken until noon Friday. Community Chest events: The Geneva Community Chest has a goal this year of raising more than $160,000 for distribution to social service agencies that provide help to residents.
